The 15th International Precipitation Conference (IPC15) offers a rich and carefully curated program designed to foster scientific excellence, interdisciplinary exchange, and community building across the global precipitation community. The conference combines high-level scientific sessions with dedicated spaces for discussion, reflection, and networking, in a format that supports both in-person and full remote participation.

Scientific Program

The IPC15 program is structured around a balanced mix of plenary and parallel activities:

Daily Keynote talks by leading international experts, addressing fundamental advances, emerging challenges, and future directions in precipitation science and applications

Oral sessions organized by thematic tracks, covering the full breadth of the conference scope

Poster sessions providing an interactive forum for in-depth scientific exchange across career stages and disciplines
The program is designed to encourage dialogue between observation, theory, modeling, and applications, and to create space for both mature research and emerging ideas.

Special Events and Community Activities
In addition to the core scientific sessions, IPC15 includes a series of special events aimed at strengthening the IPC community and broadening perspectives:

Round-table discussions on cross-cutting scientific, operational, and societal topics

Working lunches, including a dedicated session on the future of the IPC conference series, providing an open forum for community input and discussion

Late-break and topical events, integrated into the program to address timely developments

IPC15 also places strong emphasis on informal interaction and networking through a set of social events, including a Roman Evening, inspired by Coimbra’s long historical legacy, offering participants a distinctive and memorable conference experience.
Registration Fees

IPC15 is committed to maintaining accessible registration fees while ensuring a high-quality conference experience:

General registration: 300 € (in-person and online)

Student registration: 200 € (in-person and online)
​
Registration includes access to all scientific sessions, special events, and conference social activities. Details on registration deadlines and procedures will be provided on the IPC15 website.
​
Participants based in low- and lower-middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank, will be eligible to apply for a registration fee waiver.
​
Conference volunteers (in person and remote) will be eligible for a registration fee waiver along with workshop organizers.

IPC15 will take place in Coimbra, a historic university city located at the heart of Portugal. Coimbra offers an exceptional setting for an international scientific conference, combining academic tradition, cultural heritage, and excellent accessibility.

Coimbra is easily reached via Lisbon and Porto, both served by major international airports. From either city, Coimbra is accessible by high-speed rail in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes, making travel straightforward for international and European participants.

Its scale is ideal for conferences, allowing participants to move easily between venues, accommodations, and social events, while fostering close interaction and a strong sense of community.
