The International Precipitation Conference brings together a diverse community working across precipitation science, observations, algorithms, modelling, applications, data systems, services, and decision-making. As part of IPC15, we invite participants and members of the broader precipitation community to share their perspectives on the priorities, challenges, and opportunities that should guide the field in the coming years.

Your input will help inform discussions throughout the conference, including the “Precipitation 2040” Discussion Session, moderated by Dr. Sarah Ringerud from NASA. The responses will also serve as an important source of community insight for the IPC15 meeting summary, helping us capture not only what was presented, but also what the community sees as urgent, promising, unresolved, or transformative.

We are especially interested in hearing from people working across different regions, sectors, career stages, and areas of expertise. Whether your work focuses on satellite missions, ground observations, retrieval algorithms, uncertainty, hydrology, climate, applications, data access, capacity building, policy, or operational services, your perspective can help make the discussion more representative and useful.

The survey includes several questions, but you do not need to answer all of them. We encourage you to focus on the questions where you feel you have the most relevant experience, insight, or interest. A few thoughtful responses are extremely valuable and will help us identify common priorities, emerging ideas, and points of debate for the conference.

By contributing, you will help shape a community-level reflection on where precipitation science and applications should go next, what capabilities are most needed, and how the IPC community can better support science, services, and societal needs in the decades ahead.
